Meet our Team

Cathy Lansing – MAC President

Cathy slipped into the workings of MAC as seamlessly as she creates her numerous works of wonder. whether Cathy’s medium has been tiny bursts of fabric, paint, or glass mosaic – a consistent thread of optimism, along with an unabashed use of colour – may be seen throughout.
She is a creator in all mediums; turning upcycled clothing, burlap coffee sacks and other fabric remnants, into something unexpectedly beautiful. Creating and Teaching the world of Miniatures to eager artists. We are thrilled to have her as our current President for her bubbly personality and love for the Arts!

Robin LeDrew- MAC Past President

Robin is a retired social worker and practicing mostly self-taught artist often inspired by the intricacies of nature and the environment around her.  With over seventy years of art background up her sleeve, she has been a longtime supporter of both the Monashee Arts Council and the previous Lumby Arts Co-op. We are delighted to have her continued support as Past-President for MAC.

Julie Pilon- MAC Chair

I have been a board member for the Monashee Arts Council for 8 years, and I have been the chairperson for the last 4 years. My responsibility as Chairperson is to keep the meetings on track, and as a director, I try to fill in where I am needed on some of the sub committees within MAC.

Norma Bouzek- Treasurer

Worked for Canada Revenue Agency for 30 plus years in assessing and audit areas, obtained my 2-year accounting certificate from Douglas College in 1984. I have lived in Lumby since October of 2015, and became a member of the MAC board in 2016. Then in 2020 I became the treasurer for MAC. I have loved the arts and theatre for most of my life and learned a lot about theatre through my daughter and her schooling. In the past few years, I have been exploring my artistic side by participating in events and taking classes through MAC and at the Vernon Arts Centre.

Christine Rawcliffe – MAC Director & Public Curation Program Coordinator

I have been a student of art all my life through enjoying and appreciating the art of Mother Nature!
I have always been interested in creating art in one form or another. I joined the Lumby Gallery and Monashee Arts Council roughly 9 years ago. I am very interested in bringing art to the everyone as it is such a healing and beautiful way to express yourself, get to know others and be a part of such an amazing community!
Close to 10 years ago I burnt out from my employment as a Caregiver (did this since I was 13), and found art as an escape from anxiety and depression.
I sincerely want to thank the RDNO for all of its most wonderful support over the years!

Jeanette Wilding – MAC Director and Volunteer at the Village Gallery

Cree Native Jeweler, Metalsmith & Weaver

Jeannette studied at the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson BC. There she majored in the Jewelry & Small Object Design program, as well as Weaving & Textiles. Jeannette has won awards both provincially and regionally for her jewelry and sculptural copper vessels.

She creates meaningful pieces that reflect her heritage and love for the arts. “The art of jewelry & sculptural vessels are where I feel connected with my soul. It’s an amazing feeling to witness each piece develop & take on a life of their own.”

I enjoy working in different mediums, such as cutting stones for my jewelry. Processing raw fleece into textiles is very satisfying, and painting lets me explore the world of colour and perspective.

Bev Danby – MAC Director and Volunteer at the Village Gallery

I am mostly a self-taught artist, but have taken a few classes and workshops in the last 20 years. In my second year at UBC in the sixties, I completed an Art History course. I have been doing explorations into various mediums, including acrylics, watercolour, drawing, linoprint, clay and photography.

I am a supporter of artists and the arts, especially local artists and I have a good amount of works on display at home.

Theresa Stranack – MAC Director and Volunteer at the Village Gallery

I have always loved to draw. I grew up in the Lumby area and graduated from Charles Bloom, attended the OUC Fine Arts program when my children were young, with the goal of becoming a graphic artist, and am now working as a graphic artist for a small historic community newspaper. Along the way I volunteered and worked for the Vernon Art Gallery. I recently moved back to Lumby and decided to volunteer at the Village Gallery as a way of renewing my ties to the community.

Nina Westaway- Volunteer at the Village Gallery

I have lived in Lumby since 2004 when I became semi-retired, originally from the coast. I entered my first Lumby Days in 2006 hosted by the Monashee Arts Council. Since then, I have been involved with Wonder Cafe, the Monashee Food Co-op, Counterpoint Choir, Rendezvous, and the Vernon Photography Club. My participation in the Village Gallery began in 2014, and in 2015 I became a volunteer in the newly minted gallery. Mainly though not exclusively an abstract painter, I have exhibited in group and solo shows in Lumby, Coldstream, Vernon and Armstrong.
The growth of our community through the Monashee Arts Council is wonderful, and I hope I can be a part of it.

My family life was busy as we raised 2 wonderful and capable daughters.
I’ve lived in Lumby for 33 yrs and retired in 2020. I enjoy volunteering at the Gallery, still hoping some creative bug will get me.

Delma Wiedeman – Volunteer at the Village Gallery

I have lived in Lumby since 1986, prior to that from 1972-86 I lived in O.K. Falls.  My high school education was in Vernon, B.C. Then I hit the employment world, my first full time job was with the Bank of Montreal, followed by CIBC, and then the Oliver Credit Union.  In 1991 join the Baron Insurance (which changed to Valley First Insurance), and I retired from there in 2008.  I have travelled to several countries, but the cross Canada trip was super, one must appreciate what our home country has to offer.  Retirement is great and now I’m donating my time as a volunteer at the Village Gallery with the crafts of stain glass and my support as a volunteer.

My studies focus mainly on design and colour harmony.
One of my biggest achievements in life is our family, including my partner of 50 years, 2 sons and 4 grandchildren who are all good responsible people.
