Arts and Culture Program Coordinator – Job Posting

Do you love the arts? Do you want to see culture thrive in our rural and village community? The Monashee Arts Council is looking for someone to take up the role of part time coordinator

The position is 16 hours per week

Applicant should be able to self-direct but also work cooperatively with a volunteer board and other volunteers.

Speaking and writing skills are essential.

Tasks include:

    • researching funding sources for new and ongoing arts and culture activities; preparing grant applications in conjunction with the board
    • maintaining correspondence, mailing and membership lists; maintaining records; bank deposits
    • working cooperatively with the Village Gallery subcommittee of the Monashee Arts Council
    • maintaining a regular Monashee Arts Council presence in print and social media including website; writing articles, proofreading articles; competency with social media, and word processing essential
    • assembling a monthly newsletter to members;
    • assisting the board in the preparation of an annual budget to support the implementation of the Arts and Culture Master Plan Goals;
    • assisting the board in developing and supporting arts and cultural programming for youth and adult members of the community. 

The position starts August 26th.

Call for Submissions – upcoming Art Show: Stronger Together

Call for Submissions: “Stronger Together”

The Monashee Arts Council (MAC) will be hosting its third gallery show this year which will showcase art created by MAC members, many who have supported the organization during its 20-year history. The Village Gallery (under the auspices of MAC) invites artists and artisans in the community to join MAC and participate in “Stronger Together” for the month of September. This is an open-theme exhibit for 2-D and 3-D artists and artisans who are current or new members of the Monashee Arts Council.

Submissions are limited to two (2) pieces per artist and need to be delivered to the gallery with application form by August 28-29th. Memberships may be renewed/obtained at time of delivery. MAC will need the following information for each piece of work:

Title, Medium, Size, Price (if selling), Description (how, why, when or where), Name of Artist.

(Please note that the Monashee Arts Council will receive 40% commission on any art sold during this show.)

Membership is $15 per calendar year and is open to all who want to see the arts flourish in the area. Please pick up your MAC membership and application forms  at the Village Gallery, 1975 Vernon Street. (Highway 6). You can also request these documents by email: monasheeartscouncil@gmail.com
