Artbeat…arts & culture from the edge
April 20-26, 2014 is BC Arts & Culture Week! The Monashee Arts Council will be celebrating by hosting local artists demonstrating their craft on Friday April 25th, and Saturday, April 26thbetween 10:30am-4:30pm. Please stop by to visit some of the amazing, talented members of the community! Check our website or FB page for more updates!
The Monashee Arts Council is hosting a LOGO CONTEST! We are looking for a logo to be used in promoting the original script Moose Under Coyote Sleeping which will be brought to the stage in the fall of 2014. The 'Moose' symbolizes the early days in the settlement of White Valley, originally called Bull Meadows because moose frequently wintered there. 'Coyote Sleeping' was the name local First Nations used to refer to the mountain we now call the Camels Hump. We invite anyone to submit their ideas in the form of a sketch or graphic rendering that will represent these twin themes in our play. Prize $100, deadline for submissions May 15th.
The Monashee Arts Council is currently taking applications from vendors and non-profit groups for display table space at the upcoming Lumby Days Family Festival (June 13-15, 2014). There are a limited number of tables so it is recommended that applications are submitted soon. Vendor tables are available to MAC members for only $30 (MAC membership is $15 per year) with a second table available at $20. For more information, contact the office by phone, email or in person. Information and forms are also available on our website.
