Artbeat…arts & culture from the edge

The Monashee Arts Council is offering a one day Community Building Art Workshop at Gateway Healing Arts on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 2-4pm. Participants will experience a fusion of Spanish Lessons while taking part in co-creative Painting using a variety of mediums. Join Michelle Saurette and Rodrigo Rincon for this truly unique artistic experience.  Course fee $30 per student plus a $5 supplies cost.  Pre-registration is required.


The Monashee Arts Council invites local organizations to apply for a grant to sponsor visual and performing arts programs in our community. We welcome proposals that include educational or entertainment activities that present the visual and performing arts.

1. Local non-profit groups may apply to bring arts activities or events to our community.

2. Proposals must include a project description, budget, and timeline.

3. Deadline for applications is May 27, 2014

The Monashee Arts Council is very excited to announce that we are bringing The Great Plains to the Lumby Legion on Friday, March 28th at 7pm.  This great duo bill themselves as “Plain Folk Making Great Music” and is sure to be a hit.  The style of music has Prairie Roots with Celtic, Bluegrass and Country flavours. Advance tickets are $12/adult and $10/seniors & students.  Tickets are available at the Monashee Arts Council office at 1961 Vernon Street.  Tickets at the door on the night of the event: $15. Refreshments by Caffe Mazzega.
